“One person might come and speak about another because of jealousy, because of enmity. He will turn one thing into two. Then another person will turn those two into four. Another person will turn five into ten. We should not take words like these into our hearts. This is what causes jealousy, this is what causes doubt, this is what causes enmity; this is what will make a friend turn away his face and his eyes from you. This is what brings jealousy. This is what grows and grows in the heart, gets bigger, and then turns into an accident.
We should comfort someone who comes to tell us these things and say to him ‘Please do not say these things from now on. You must live as a person of integrity.’ As soon as he begins telling you, you must speak to him, and comfort him. ‘Do not say these things anymore.’
If you can stop it right away, those things will not grow in this place. Treachery will not grow among us. Enmity will not grow, the conflict will not grow, those thoughts will not grow, and then we can remain clear.”
