“What will fate do to me? What will it do?” sings Muhammad Raheem Bawa Muhaiyaddeen(Ral.) in the classic, wondrous song in which he both questions fate and shows us the exalted and degraded possibilities that exist in the life of a human being in the world. He shows us how the destiny, the karma, formed by the thoughts and actions of our parents at the time of our conception can be overcome, taking us to realms we cannot imagine.
He gives us a new destiny:
After me, each of the children will become a leader to the world. You will be leaders on the good path and in love. You must lift up the people who lie buried, the hearts that lie buried, the children who lie in ignorance. You must lift them up, embrace them, feed them with love, show them compassion, and comfort them.
You must embrace them in a heart filled with love, feed them with the milk of wisdom, and give them help that is good—help them on the straight path that goes directly between them and God. Show them the path with compassion. Each child. Show them how love lives as a community.
May we never forget the exaltedness! May we live up to it!
